An octagonal mirror that contains the eight trigrams. Used to reflect and circulate the chi, to prevent it from stagnating.

Chi

Dragon's Breath, the life-giving forces of the universe.

Chien

One of the eight trigrams. Symbolizes Heaven/Sky on the Pakua. The Creative.

Chinese Calendar System

Compass School

An analytical school of Feng Shui based on time and orientation. Includes the Eight House Theory and the Flying Star Theory.

The set of trigrams used to make up the Pakua. A symbolic representation of the family, time, and seasons.

Feng Shui

An ancient Chinese practice of living harmoniously with the energy of the surrounding environment. (pronounced Fung Shway) Literally means wind and water.

Feng Shui Guild

A US-based organization whose purpose is to promote the use, practice, and teaching of feng shui.[http://www.fengshuiguild.com/]

Feng Shui Society

An unincorporated, non-profit UK-based organization formed to advance feng shui principles and concepts as a contribution to the creation of harmonious environments for individuals and society in general. [http://www.fengshuisociety.org.uk/]

Five Elements

The interactive building blocks to life: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal.

Flying Star Theory

A school of Feng Shui that examines the dynamic effect of time.

Fuk

One of the three deities said to be symbolic of life achievement. Fuk is symbolic of happiness.

Fuk Luk Sau

The Trinity of Health, Wealth, and Prosperity. Each deity/guardian bears a symbolic gift: Fuk, Luk, and Sau.

Lou Pan / Lo Pan

A Chinese compass used to determine the flow of Chi for determining the orientation of buildings, rooms, and furnitures.

Lo Shu Grid

A 3 by 3 pattern, as found on the back of a giant tortoise shell.

Luk

One of the three deities said to be symbolic of life achievement. Luk is symbolic of wealth.
